After many, many months, I now have to get rid of my H4i. Having stored it
in a dry farm building for around 4 years, surrounded by good intentions
that came to naught, limitations of time, space and ability mean that I
have to shift the old girl by the end of March.

'The Blue Pig' hasn't run for over four years and, even then, only has the
1.6i Zetec engine, so nothing to set the world on fire. However, she did
just fine for me as a vehicle for every-day use and covered many thousands
of miles with rarely a problem apart from a failing battery and a tendency
for there to be quite a lot of weather on the inside even with the roof up.

Although she could be a resurrection project for the right person, I view
her more as a source of ever-harder-to-come-by spare parts, the automotive
equivalent of villagers viewing the ruined castle as a stone quarry, used
to keep another H4 on the road or repair one after an accident. Good points
include an intact body shell and chassis (dark blue body, rather dulled by
time; some rust on one front suspension tower, small hole, easily welded; a
front bumper scraped by low-speed parking manoeuvre)); a gearbox that was
good on last usage; two full sets of front and rear lights (second set from
my old MkIII Fiesta); new, unused (but fitted) shock absorbers on the rear;
new, unused, unfitted shock absorbers for the front (boxed, about 4.5 years
old); and various other odds and sods. The less good points are the engine
(not turned in 4.5 years); the interior; the power steering system (all
worked when last used but leak at one union; one track rod end missing);
and the brakes (calipers off, requiring overhaul).

Anyone interested would need a trailer to cart her off some time in later
March. She has a V5, an entertaining number-plate (ending 'WTF', which
seems appropriate) an is SORNed. She is near Derby. As scrap I have an
offer of £100 but I'd hate for her to go back to the Fiesta MkIII mob
having evolved into a Quantum.

Any interest?

Steve
