I don't think they are very important, some calipers have caps, others don't. They are just there to stop dirt and brake dust getting into that end of the pin guide.

I guess you could push a suitable sized blanking grommet into the end of the guide tube instead.

Silly question maybe. How important are the brake pin guide covers (you know those little caps you have to take off to undo the guides) on a disc brake? They are part of a build/design as they are present when a car is new. But often seem to be missing in later life. Even main dealers seem to not be fussed.
