I haven't really used git or bzr enough to have a preference, but I do like the usability of launchpad.
With the name, I actually re-read the terms of the GPL and asked some people on IRC to confirm, but there is no re-naming clause. When a project is forked, it is good practice to do, but since the project has been discontinued and is being handed off, there is no need to re-name. So, unless there are any objections, I will register the project with launchpad tonight under the original name, quarry.
