We had enabled the "Private Patches" as well, but the particular
format of XML we were reading in apparently had some issues, so given
the idea of PHP parsing by Karan Lyons, (who, btw, wrote a nice
simple parser to start off with), we were able to write several
parsers for different purposes and feeds. Our version goes a bit
further in that it also writes to a file on the server, as well as
returns the rss data how we need it. It really just depends on the
format of the xml, and how much control you have over that data when
it's created. If you can work with the creator of the data, it may be
possible they can make a couple of changes that would help your
cause. It wasn't the case for us, but you never know.
Cheers,
Mike
I was able to do this by using the RSS Parser, made available by
enabling 'Private Patches':
