-add an input splitter to the diameter and then save.
I was going to file a bug, but if someone else is going to do it,
please just add the above.

Why might that be?
Looks like a QC Bug. Make a new composition, create a sphere
patch, then attach an LFO to the Diameter input, and try to save/
copy the sphere. Instant Internal Error :)
Also happens if you attach a Random, Patch Time, or System time to
the Diameter. Or, if you run any of those through a math patch.
Using QC 3.0 build 63, Leopard 10.5.1
