That's an interesting idea, please file feature request on bugreports.apple.com

Right now the audio spectrum is only fed in from iTunes when playing the composition in the QC Editor or in iTunes. You can record your visualizer with music using the MovieExporter plugin in /Developer/Examples/Quartz Composer/Plugins, but quality/fps won't be optimal. For better quality/fps, you can record the spectrum via some code that you would write and play at lower speed into MovieExporter plug-in.

Good day all,

More on the Audio based graphics... I am currently trying to make some loops that react to a certain audio track for After Effecting and post-production. I first made a QC loop with Audio Input working in QC and then dropped the .qtz file into iMovie and added the audio track underneath. Unfortunately there is no audio reaction in iMovie from the combined result.
My next attempts were to:
1; File > Export > Quicktime Movie from Quartz
2; Then added Music to the selection in Quicktime Pro and saved as a self-contained Movie to unite the sound and vision. Works great when opening back up in Quicktime. 3; I then try to import this file into After Effects but it has an Error message ("File has no Duration" But File > Info in Quicktime says there is actually 3mins.55secs).
– Alternately, dropping this .mov into iMovie produces the Audio only.

I have also tried Exporting the united file (from Quicktime) to various Codecs (jpeg, mp4, animation, Sorenson) but this loses the audio reactiveness of the clips.

My next trial would be to record the combined result out to a DV tape but would then have to re-import this (iMovie) in to make it a digital file animation for use in After-Effects. Though it will work, this strikes me as a bit of a long way round having to go out of the computer and then back in.

Is it possible to get a Quartz Quicktime file with the Audio Input already applied and locked in into After Effects or other editing software?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Best regards,
Joel
