I haven't tried the Spooky patches, but they may be pulling the information every frame. You can try the built in OSC patches.

Thanks to everyone who responded, I really appreciate the help. In the end I combined the two compositions into one, and stretched it across to the projector screen. This worked well enough to get me by for the evening. Today I found Kineme.net's spooky send-receive plug in, and it is allowing the two compositions to interface with better performance.

A new problem: directing the movie file URL from the browser composition to the mixer composition is causing a serious performance hit. While the browser is working alone, it does very little and doesn't register much CPU or render load. When connected to the mixer, both application's frame rates drop considerably. The only output from the browser patch is currently the movie URL and a boolean trigger.

I can see two potential causes: the browser constantly polling the movie source directory (which is now being accessed by the mixer), or an issue with the movie URL being watched for changes by the mixer patch. What would be a way to decouple the two while a new URL isn't being sent?
