No, but at different aspect ratios in any situation QC will crop parts of the image. So if your preview is not the same aspect ratio as your QT movie, it will have to cut bits off or add bits to make it fit (otherwise everything looks squashed). If you have your preview set to say 640x480, then export in widescreen 720x480 it will stretch the composition to fill the 720 width, but it'll stretch it upwards too off the screen, and you'll lose the top and bottom of your image.
