Hi Adrian,
I do feel your pain and would like to help, but this isn't really the
right place to get information about NVidia drivers. The bug you
referenced is being looked at by NVidia, but that's all I know. We've
always had good relations with NVidia but clearly they made a business
decision to ship drivers which were not ready, and I do hope they
understand the importance of getting it fixed quickly.

Hello everyone,
Since I'm not having any luck sorting out my ongoing issue with
NVIDIA 8XXX class cards and running two or more QTZ compositions
simultaneously, can I ask if anyone else here has found any
solutions or workarounds to the problem? I know a few of you have
emailed me off list adding your support and I've done all I can to
pass on details to Apple via the bugreporter, but I've not heard a
peep for 5 months and would love someone to tell me that the issue
is at least being looked at.
The problem is that dramatically poor framerates are achieved
(9~10fps even on a super fast 2.8GHz Mac Pro) when more than one QTZ
is rendered within the same process on NVIDIA 8XXX cards
(specifically the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT and the NVIDIA GeForce
8600M GT). This comes up when you have more than one QTZ open in
Quartz Composer itself, and also when you're using a Composition
Loader patch (the latter being the more crucial to me).
The problem does not occur on earlier 7XXX class NVIDIAs, nor does
it occur on ATI Radeon cards (as far as I can test myself),
indicating it could be a problem with the NVIDIA drivers in 10.5. My
suspicions are bolstered by the fact that the 8XXX class NVIDIA
drivers in 10.5 often crash leaving machines in complete graphical
lockup (kernel logs showing "NVChannel(GL): Graphics channel
exception!").
Demo files and some details can be downloaded here:

Apple - please can we discuss the problem?
More generally - as developers should we be wary of using NVIDIA
based solutions? We need more guidance and support on this issue if
we are to rely on Quartz Composer for our business.
Many thanks,
