I have a project where I need to start a video from a pc running a motion control software. The pc sends out LTC timecode. I was thinking to use a midi interface that reads LTC, converts it to midi and gives me a stert signal. I only want the film to play through once, and it needs to be very accurate. Any thoughts?
While I can't say anything about the LTC->MIDI interface stuff, I do know that the MIDI->QC interface is extremely low latency, so it should give you a fairly accurate start time.
If you're planning on syncing the video each frame, that'll probably be bad - the movie loader patch doesn't seem to like seeking every frame (from my experience, may have changed in Snow Leopard). But just triggering it should be completely functional.
