100%. I never said that the settings panel was useless, just that it should be avoided like the plague unless you are 100% positive the functionality you want/need can only be realistically accomplished by using it. I never said abolish it, indeed, I said, let me get access to that view outside of QC. However, you are right that publishing a view that adds or removes ports will indeed break connections within the patch graph, and thats bad. Alas, that seems to be the Achilles heel in the 'just publish the view' solution. Oh well.
Yeah -- sorry if I overread your statement to be more anti-settings panel than you intended. I just wanted to get the "it modifies ports!" litmus test out there, in the vain hope that someday it'll catch on (and then all will be right with the world :)
