Hi alx,this doesn't answer the question directly, but there is a distinct 10.6 version in the dev samples.http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/samplecode/ImageExporter/index.html
To answer a bit more directly: I built the attached sample plugin, fired up and sample composition, and got a few images on my desktop. Not extensive testing, I know, but it seems to work at least a little bit on 10.6.2.
