Tested on 10.5.
Guessing a bug -- it looks like the grep patch doesn't properly
notice when its inputs change (or, internally, the regular
expression evaluator is buggy or something).
I'm noticing similar issues when changing the input (i.e. it doesn't
grep the new input string).
Please file a bug report.

Please, Apple developpers, is this really a bug ? Why did you provide
patchs who don't run ?
What is the utility for a grep patch when the input is static ? In
this case, humain brain can do the grep and, the "Grep patch" step is
useless.
Why are Apple bugs secret ?
Christopher, is there perhaps a workaroud with javascript ?
