It's always consistent on this install (10.5.8 - 9L30) I'll check on 10.6.3 soon. Also, if I make the patch myself, it always restores on the same install (though that wasn't your problem). I also plan on checking something made on one of my laptops on another, to see if I can simulate this as well.
