Hello Jason,

the timing of each particle system patch you are using is based on the global living composition time. So all the particle systems starting at the same time. You can change this by ctrl-clicking on the particle system patch (the one within the particle macro!) to get the context menu for this patch. Here you choose "Time base -> External" which gives you another input at the patch called "Patch Time". Here you have to connect any running value you what (it also can run backwards, if you like!) I would recommend that you use a "Patch Time" patch and connect it to a "Math Expression" patch, where you add an fixed offset. Use different offset values for each particle system.

Also by changing the "life time" of each particle system a bit you will see, that some icons come in more often than others.

I am not sure about what you mean by "connect the raining icons to a sprite"? The "Sprite"-patch that is connected to your "Spectra"-Logo does the actual rendering of that logo image on screen. It don't influence the particle system at all.

I hope this gives you some clues.

Hey QC Pros,

I would to understand QC a bit better than I do, so I've been playing around with examples. I used a tutorial to build this screen saver, which I think is nice

but I'd like to improve it a bit.

In this version, the nine types of icons 'rain' in waves, and I'd like to figure out how to make them rain continually (or with random start times). Also, the one sprite that controls the central logo's appearance also seems to influence the behavior of the raining icons. I'd like to break that influence, but I don't see how to connect the raining 'icons' to a sprite.

Pointers to documentation would be great, but I'm also interested in list-hosted conversation.

Thanks in advance for your guidance.

Jason
