A good thing to do in parallel with employing a workaround is to file
a bug report when things act strangely, or not as you expect. Having
workarounds is nice, but having correct behavior (so you don't _need_
to use/know about workarounds) is even better :)

Filed! (Incidentally, how's the response on these sort of bugs, do they
usually get fixed in minor revisions? I've encountered lots of problems
trying to load files and in writing what I'd think were trivial
timing-based/control apps (porting over stuff written in Processing,
Pyglet, Nodebox to QC for access to Quartz...))
