It may be odd to reply so long after the fact, but I was just installing a
clips folder, and was looking to reconfirm the location. In testing to make
sure the install is ok, I found something somewhat noteworthy:

Now, apparently now you can *drag clips onto the Editor surface(!)*, and in
the past you didn't used to be able to (it seems like one had to double
click). Even though this feature may be being deprecated, it now works
better, even though there is no way to automatically place clips there from
the menu. However, one can always drag the Clips folder icon onto the end of
the dock, making it *very easy* to add new clips. This all comes as a
pleasant surprise to me.

Re: flattening virtual macros; the quickest stock way I've found:

In the save menu, if you hold down option, you can "save a flattened copy
as". So, you can either save the entire composition you're working on, or :

Make a new blank, copy&paste the virtual macro onto the new blank, save a
flattened copy of it onto your desktop, drag it onto the composition you're
working on, and "explode macro" out of the extra macro layers that were
created in the process.

Option 2:

When you make a virtual macro, it's path gets placed in the patch
description. Highlight this description, control+click, and choose "Open".
This opens the actual virtual macro qtz. Edit, close QC, reopen, and then
it's changed globally. This is the quickest way to handle global editing on
a virtual patch loaded into your system.
