It's a private patch, that doesn't have any examples associated with it;
I've asked about this as well.

The 3D Image output appears to be useless in the context of QC, but you
never know. (BTW, it turns out not only was 3D image out not supported in
OpenCL/QC, it wasn't supported in OpenCL 1.0 at all, to my understanding). I
asked about this patch on list, and ended up reporting the erroneous mouse
ribbon link as a bug (I don't have the bug id handy).

Actually... I'm very interested in the structure -> image. If that provides
some immediate way to convert a structure of vec4's to a usable output
image, it would be pretty cool, and useful for some tricks with normals. Any
playing around I've done with it has been generally fruitless or corrupted
my system.
