Yes it is, I have a comp streaming video over RTSP that's been running over a year.
I can't share that comp here, but I've dont nothing more than use the movie importer patch with the url: rtsp://server-IP/video.mp4 Are you able to open this stream in quicktime? (And what kind of file is .sdp?) Generally QC seems to play anything quicktime does.
