I think that you'd be best off performing a hit test, making your own
bounding "square".

You could use the built in private apple hit-test patch, and even use the
image input (you'd have to place the model in an RII), to allow the hit test
to follow the contour of the object.

It looks like the bounding box info of actual model is present in QC and
might be able to be derived, but not using QCPlugin, since it has not yet
been updated to handle QCMesh, and no stock patches give deliver that info
to an output port.
