Fair enough. Some points though; it's pretty unlikely to break - maybe even
less so than QCPlugin from some recent dev-list noise, and there are a fair
amount of sample projects available (and I'll be sharing some more in the
future at displayhack.org -shameless plug).

It's the one way you can create all available patch types, create custom
port types, etc., etc. I'm not trying to sell it at all though, as it is
unsupported and not allowed at the mac app store. It fits my work because I
don't have to worry about that, and I can get more functionality. It pushes
QC into being a useful tool basically.

Depending on why you want to make a macro - one thing you can do with the
standard QCPlugin api is make a "layer" renderer that effects layers above
it. You can change projection style, do 3d transforms, clip planes, etc.,
this way, for example.
