I need to go back and reacquaint myself with QC. I did look at my code, and
I remember that one of the issues I had was trying to put an observer on a
flag that would let me know when an animation finished.

I am using QC to provide animated pointers, which I call ³attention
directors², in a presentation screen. I can choose a QC file from a list,
then place the QC layer at the clicked point on the screen. This works.
However, the user has to manually turn off the effect. I want it to
automatically fade out and turn off after a few seconds after the animation
finishes, so I can release the mouseDown capture for other uses.

I also want someone to be able to create new effects in QC and be able to
just drop them into the application to add to the effects list. For that, I
need to provide a basic QC template file with the required I/O.
