I commend Achims method of text processing and rendering each line separately
if you can be bothered. Also if you download the Noise Industry demo AE filters
which installs the NoiseIndustry plugin of custom patches. NI have a range of
enhanced text handling patches for displaying Rich Text (I relying on memory
here from a few years ago when I last played with them!). I did ask NI about
licencing them and @vade told me it was not possible at this time but to watch
this space. I watched all this time and didn't see anything happen ;-) So if
it's for personal use I recommend the NI patches, if it's for a product go your
own way as Achim suggested.

Paul I agree with most of what you said but as a graphic designer who produced
many Internationally distributed art journals in his day (receiving awards and
critical praise for layout along the way) I'd have to say that negative line
spacing would be nice in QC (not holding my breath I'm waiting for VUO which I
got involved in discussions for in it's initial stage of development).

Especially since space before and space after are not options in QC text
handling either. The text handling in QC is not even up to standard of
SimpleText.app and I've always seen this lack of control as an obvious weak
point of QC. I guess Apple assumed anyone using QC will use the Quartz PDF
engine (outside QC) for anything serious with text. Big assumption and in my
case painfully wrong!
