In regards to your question Use a Matrox Triplehead digital edition, and a Pro Res codec for playback (it scales quite nicely during > HD playback). A modern system should be able to handle that I think. Don't expect much post processing of the video at all, since effects will be video memory starved VERY FAST, and your fill rate limits on GPUs will be reached really quickly as well.
