Martin,

you will need a Render-In-Image patch to render the full screen into a texture. 
You cache the resulting image in an Accumulator patch. which then goes back 
into the original Render In Image patch as a new Image input. This image from 
the last render cycle you render first in the Render In Image patch but with a 
little shift to the left (dont forget the clear patch on level 1 in the Render 
In Image patch!). Then you render the transparent image on top of it while give 
it a spin with the “Rotation Z” parameter. If you put a Core image blur effect 
on the Accumulator patch, this will give you some extra fuzziness on the trail.

I hope this give you some hints where to start.
