If there are threading issues using Automator or AS ask on the AppleScript list.
there’s a bunch of really helpful and very skilled scriptures. some of them know a good deal more about what AS needs to become a first order tool than the coders at Apple who write the updates it seems like to me :-) I’d go for AppleScript, opens up your options and your learning something that has applications beyond the task at hand, which arguable Automator isn’t going to offer you much on. Graphic converter <http://www.lemkesoft.de/en/products/graphicconverter/> has been around years, used to ship with Macs in the pre-OS X days. It’s especially good at automating image adjustments. AS has a 3rd party library for working with images if you go that way but you won’t need it, just open your watermark file (as vector art) and place it source image file and Save As from PS.
