Didn't see the video, but my guess is that some systems have trouble booting from USB 3.0. I have at least one system, which can *sometimes* boot from USB 3.0, and I don't know why and what it depends on. There is a workaround though: you can run bootloader from USB 2.0, pick the boot option, let it load kernel and initramfs and *then* quickly remove the stick and plug it in 3.0 port.
