I don't expect you to do your GSoC project before the summer. It's Google *Summer* of Code for a reason ;) I fully understand that many of us are quite busy with other things at the moment (myself included). The goal is to bootstrap your familiarity with the community, the code, and the systems you will be interfacing with so that you can be optimally productive later on.
