Taking care of the printer itself would make much more difference. Otherwise, to keep the printer "safe", you would need to ensure that _everything_, _anyone_ print on that printer gets sanitized first. This includes all the files you print (which could be solved at CUPS level indeed), but also other users (if applicable) and (assuming network printer) anything that could connect to the printer, possibly without your consent (any compromised device within the local network, possibly even including your sys-net).
