Hi,
Following a discussion with ben-grande about the disposable
documentation and the screenshots, I am wondering if it could be
possible to automate some of the screenshots present in qubes-doc?
The current disposable documentation is a good example of outdated
screenshots, but the "Screenshots" or the "Getting started" pages need
an update:
*
<https://doc.qubes-os.org/en/latest/user/how-to-guides/how-to-use-disposables.html>
* <https://doc.qubes-os.org/en/latest/introduction/screenshots.html>
* <https://doc.qubes-os.org/en/latest/introduction/getting-started.html>
What is preventing me from updating those screenshots?
Without a dedicated installation, providing screenshots from a fresh
install is painful. Tweaking settings to provide easily readable and
consistent screenshots is even more difficult.
Some of the screenshots are better with some annotations (boxes, colored
layers, text, arrows). While it might be possible to automate the
production of such images, I'm not sure that it is worth the effort. See
also issue #6471.
I am wondering if using OpenQA to create some tests based on the
documentation examples could be a solution?
Someone will still have to manually update the screenshots in qubes-doc.
