I can't reply to the appropriate thread because I don't have a google
account, so...

You really should consider getting a forum :)

1. I use Tor, which means that unless I get lucky and receive an exit node
from a country whose language I speak, the google group thing is in
German/Italian/Russian/etc, and I have to click blindly until I hit the
right button

2. There is no way to efficiently filter search results by topic

3. People who don't want to give their phone number to google can't reply
to threads (A lot of the people who might be interested in a security
focused OS are also the type of people who don't want their private lives
treated as a commodity to be bought and sold by corporations)

4. The threads in the mailing list don't show up @ search engines (This is
a VERY big deal)

5. It's just supremely confusing to someone like me who is used to forums
and image boards and has never before used a mailing list -- If your goal
is for Qubes to become more mainstream, the best thing you can do is to
set up a platform where newcomers can easily communicate and help each
other with newbie issues
