Good morning. I am a new Qubes user and also new to linux in general. I have installed the beta 3.2rc1 (because 3.1 was totally incompatible with my system to even install).
I figured I would check the forums here before posting a new one about this issue. So ill tag onto this one. I have a radeon r9 390 with a gigabyte 970a ud3p mobo, the drive is an Intel 750 (nvme) and I also get this same problem. It seems random, sometimes I can get several hours of use out of the system with no issue. Once this bad rss counter fault starts to happen it overwhelms the system till reboot or lockup. Some things I've noticed is that firefox almost always causes the problem. Other times is when I rush the system with lots of requests like starting VMs or files. It seems like a memory issue(if it were a windows system, not sure on linux). The dump points to the main kernel dom0 uses but I can't make much sense of it. At boot I get a message about efi_memmap not enabled, and erst not enabled. I looked in the /boot config file(I am efi booting off of a memory stick) and and found no mention of efi_memmap and erst was set to enable. From reading about efimemmap it seems like my boards uefi might not posting the memory correctly for qubes to use. So I guess my question is, could the lack of correct memory adressing be the issue here? If so, what is the correct way to add efi-memmap into the qubes system? If anyone would like logs of my crashes just let me know where to get them and I will post them up here. I really like Qubes when it works and this issue is the only roadblock preventing this from happening.
