I want to use my windows HVM for watching youtube videos.

Have you tried this?
https://www.qubes-os.org/doc/full-screen-mode/
I find it strange that this page does not mention the possibility to
simply do a right-click on the window title bar and select "Full
screen". I find it more practical to selectively (and manually, which I
think is safer) allow an AppVM to get its hand on the whole screen.
To get the window back to normal, you can use the Alt+Space keyboard
combination to display the window menu and disable the Full Screen mode,
otherwise if you do not remember this shortcut the Alt+Tab still works
(and is not catchable by the VM, as described in the linked document)
and allows you to safely escape from the full screen window.

Simon.
