-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA256 Hello all, I'm new here and this is my first time using QubesOS. Seeing as the HCL is lacking my laptop I thought I try to document my experience with installing and setting up Qubes on my Dell 7567.
The first thing I did while win10 was still on the machine was update the BIOS from 1.00.3 to the current 1.00.7. Then I upgraded the Wifi card from Intel 3165 to 8265 (more about his later). In order to get the system to boot to my ISO USB I had to disable Secure Boot. This might be why my HCL Report says I don't have a TPM when this unit should have TPM 2.0; I will re-enable and install AEM after I fix a few other issues. When trying to install QubesOS the 'Media Scan' (I think it was called) failed and I had to install without scanning. Besides that, I had no other issues with the install. -side note; I did check the hash on the ISO, and the image was as it should, I think this was just from my old USB stick. After install I learned I had to manually identify and connect to my wifi. Still nothing. 20 minutes on google later, I hook up a cat6 and start updating my kernel to 4.8.12. This fixed my issue and I was then able use the Intel 8265 for wifi. Updated all my Templates and dom0. Added nano to Deb8 and Fed23 because nano is my favorite. Now the fun begins. I use KeePass and while I was happy to see that the Linux KeePassX 2 was already in the Vault VM I needed to install mono because of an OTP plugin I use. Added Mono (and Wine) to Fed23. KeePass must be launched via command line but I'm not complaining. I also had to set up keyboard executions from sys-usb so my OTP key can be used in KeePass. This is set to always ask because I don't want to be forwarding just any keyboard into my dom0. What I still would like to do; My laptop has both the Intel onboard as well as a 1050Ti. I would love to one day get that 1050Ti working via IOMMU to either a windows or linux gaming VM. if that ever becomes possible. I want to turn back on my TPM and get AEM setup but I want to make sure I'm happy with the setup before I do that. I need to fix an issue with the wifi where after suspending the drivers need to be reset I know that <https://www.qubes-os.org/doc/wireless-troubleshooting/> has a "Automatically reloading drivers on suspend/resume" fix, but his does not work for me. I have added iwlmvm, iwlwifi, cfg80211, and mac80211 to my suspend-module-blacklist. If anyone knows how to help me with this, I would be very grateful. Thank you to all the contributors for making Qubes possible. I hope my HCL Report is of some use. If a Dev would like my HCL Support File I will gladly give it over a private channel. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2 iQIcBAEBCAAGBQJZdR9YAAoJEMgz8gGxxG7KkVAQAKeckc2L0/7vHgIO1AUIMpVn QyTSTWf6a9r+GJHY1tyb30mE3dfmFlrSJweopRIiOiKdN2AzeEbuHQ1jE9k0+FyI PEmmC5eiEShlrHwOS0QazxrWJbtju15BNjVZwe0P+8IrKgzfwLhSJQnY8bBg9pEo AdAl41V64KEX2EGu/Tkth1VK5j0Z3pXobM7oVTU6M1LJqeoQCjaLH2AcRnPirt09 17B07t2U4QZwbxSdIBGVEXmfLuRO7JupJHYFwuYxWbGjJw2D3bB9SZBB412iSyN9 81JwX0/wbFT+xL4OZWh4ZjR1hw9PROFCdJ6W89eLWAUVJloxE8EDpUrWLueXRhwH cUi/V5eyyqpfCltuukgqCxkorPKu1NXhAToM8FaoTv1d1/xPxXH+NtXyxX5voJ2S Imj8qcZ2eK65wHDMMN198vXdYoiI5Qlj5ovVMexM1ukSXS8j7/SYHTpZGNrxz9Mx oF960uqCaoYh5TaR8gBiGNJY8HD4wWrQb2dlNviP/vjRmem4SIEgbnUcPQkd40KH TXF4T3sR25FEjayqPwJCQtLFhJHNszWBTAfwejS7wSlAwiF3rsFEs3fwIfEd0vWE S2Ubm4pIV0W5wekxRyqV0U+V/ncxRmkRboTFhtFAWPJYqX1wf64/tzCK0Ae45hB+ 3h270yV5E+vlabXE3fVq =FVbN -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group.
