Hi Willem,

If you successfully installed in legacy mode by changing some kernel parameters 
you might want to check the following procedure: 
https://github.com/QubesOS/qubes-doc/pull/512

Basically, you mound the EFI partition on your USB device and edit the Xen 
configuration. It worked for me.
