During Stage 3, on the midst of upgrading xfce4 packages (specifically genmon-plugin), the process encountered Buffer I/O errors on the device of the root file system, along with a whole slew of writing warnings and errors on the same device. When the dust is settled, dom0 remains (somewhat) functioning, but the root filesystem was thrown into ‘emergency_ro’ mode, at about 87% full. Right before the Buffer I/O errors started, dmesg reported switching root-pool to out-of-data-space mode (for both queue IO and error IO), which unfortunately meant little to me. ‘mount -o remount,we’ did not report anything but the fs remained read-only. ‘lvconvert —merge’ of the R42Backup snapshot that was created by the update script returns a message to the effect that merging into the old snapshot origin qubes_dom0/root is not supported. While dom0 is partially working, the system is essentially stuck. Any help to get me out of the jam will be most appreciated. TIA. Boryeu Mao
