New issue 1960 by [email protected]: Allow administrator to edit permalinks via UI
http://code.google.com/p/qubit-toolkit/issues/detail?id=1960

See qubit-dev discussion thread: http://groups.google.com/group/qubit-dev/browse_frm/thread/a0d977d1bcf2df00

This suggestion came up in the context of development for a multi-institutional portal:

Another useful enhancement would be to allow the institution (or administrator) to adjust the URL, i.e. edit the slug for the institution object. E.g., currently we have: http://www.memorybc.ca/simon-fraser-university-archives-and-records-management-department;isdiah although the ;isdiah can be omitted. In this example, something like http://www.memorybc.ca/sfu might be preferable

More generally, since the underlying data/logic for the permalinks is the same, it make sense to make this editing feature available for other objects. E.g. an institution might want a friendly permalink for frequently linked descriptions.

Per Jesús' link to WordPress, there could be an edit link from the relevant screen, rather than a separate UI to edit all the permalinks.
