Comment #2 on issue 1988 by [email protected]: Ghostscript and therefore
ImageMagick are not compatible with some PDF files
http://code.google.com/p/qubit-toolkit/issues/detail?id=1988
We found that some PDF files are not embedding CID Fonts, although this is
required by the PDF specification. Fortunately, Ghostscript offers a CID
font replacement system through a file called cidfmap (read the
documentation for more details,
http://ghostscript.com/doc/current/Use.htm#CIDFonts).
We experienced some problems trying to set our own cidfmap record, but
finally this worked:
/Adobe-Identity << /FileType /TrueType /Path (/usr/share/fonts/truetype/
freefont/FreeMono.ttf) /CSI [(Adobe) (Identity) 0] >> ;
In Ubuntu 11.04, the default cidfmap location is:
/usr/share/ghostscript/9.01/Resource/Init/cidfmap
Additionally, we found that our PDF documents could not be processed by
Ghostscript because Identity-UTF16-V and Identity-UTF16-H files were not
available in our system. I think that they are not part of the ghostscript
9.01 distribution, but we could found them in the officila 9.02 snapshot.
This is not a bug in qubit itself so I will mark this as an invalid issue.
