To reproduce this error:

1) Select series or subseries
2) Click on 'reports'
3) Select file or item
4) Select sort choice (reference code, date, etc)
Resulting error:
================
File or item list but date field (which should be specific to the file or
item) is populated with date range from fonds-level description.
Expected result:
================
Date in file or item line is specific to the date in the file or item
