There are no RFCs for the current NTP.  This has long been a bone of
contention.  Basically Dave Mills has been refusing to produce a version
without greek letters, mathematical operator symbols, and non-ASCII
art diagrams.

There is a document on Dave's web page which would be an RFC if certain people didn't insist on a plain ASCII text format. It's entirely usable even if it lacks the blessing of the RFC Editor(s). If Dave says that's the standard, that's the standard!!!!!

There is an RFC for SNTP though I don't have its number at my finger tips.
