I'm still trying to figure this out if anyone has any suggestions. I
think my time on my main server is not stable, thus causing "unreach"
events by the clients on my network every once in a while(every couple
of hours). The first couple of times, I see "event_reach" about 20-30
seconds after the "event_unreach" and it reconnects. But sometimes the
clients don't ever do the "event_reach" to reconnect for some reason?
Any help is appreciated.
It might be helpful if you told us:
a. What version of ntpd you are running on each of the machines involved.
b. What O/S you are using.
c. The output of ntpd -p for the server
d. The output of ntpd -p for at least two of the clients. (please not
all of them!!)
In general, I would expect unreach events to be caused by network
problems. It might also be the case that the server is unwilling or
unable to respond for some reason.
