Without a drift file line ntpd has no way of saving it's learned clock
frequency correction. So at each restart ntpd must spend some time
testing the clock and slewing it about.

Starting ntpd with '-g', a valid drift file, and the following
configuration will get the clock set in well under 30 seconds.

driftfile /path/to/my/drift_file
server my_time_server iburst
