I knew you weren't joking. However, I need to solve my sudden
lack-of-signal issue before I do anything. GPS satellites don't change
orbits suddenly do they? Or at all?

I can upgrade 6.2 to 6.3, I don't have anything important on that machine,
so I'm not too worried about it.

Well, the GPS_NMEA drver uses mode 1 ($GPRMC) by default. If you set
'minpoll 4' it will follow the GPS more closely. Although you shouldn't set
'maxpoll 4' as it will clamp your other configured servers to the default
minpoll (6), which creates unnecessary ntp traffic.
