Generally, I think that the 'floating ip' refers to a system like this: BOX1: IP 1.1.1.1 BOX2: IP 1.1.1.2 Floating IP: 1.1.1.3
The floating IP will be listened to by whichever box is active at the time. If that box dies, the other box takes up the 1.1.1.3 address. This way, you can configure a highly available IP that might actually be on multiple boxes. t. -----Original Message----- From: questions-bounces+tsnyder=rim....@lists.ntp.org [mailto:questions-bounces+tsnyder=rim....@lists.ntp.org] On Behalf Of Steve Kostecke Sent: Thursday, February 05, 2009 2:48 PM To: questions@lists.ntp.org Subject: Re: [ntp:questions] Clarification Required about NTP On 2009-02-05, balajisun...@midascomm.com <balajisun...@midascomm.com> wrote: > Assume PC1 is currently Active and its Network is goes down or > Shutdown the PC1 then the Floating IP will be host in PC2 and > respectively I don't understand this at all.
