1. Roam Around the World
.........................
During the equinox from March 17 to March 20, more than 250 photographers,
mostly
strangers to each other, collaborated on an international photography
project. Working in 44 countries and spread out on six continents, they each
photographed and prepared a QuickTime VR panorama.
Participating photographers interpretated of the theme of "marketplace"
in different ways--capturing everything from actual local farmers'
markets to abstract concepts of marketplaces of ideas, such as the
"Marketplace of Ideas" at Istituto Europeo de Design in Milan.
The collection of QuickTime VRs kicks off the second year of quarterly
panoramic photography sessions for the World Wide Panorama project,
sponsored by the Geography Computing Facility at the University of
California, Berkeley.
The QuickTime VRs show amazing imagination and variety. Check them out
now.

The Mars Volta found inspiration for its new album, "Frances The Mute,"
from a diary found by late bandmate Jeremy Ward. Singer/lyricist
Bixler-Zavala said, "The diary told of the author being adopted and
looking for his real parents. The names of each song are named after
people in the diary. Each person he meets sort of points him in the
direction of his biological parents."

the band's new album, which you can buy, along with earlier albums from
the Mars Volta, at the iTunes Music Store.

10. Hot Tips
............
One of the best things about moving from a film to digital camera is
never running out of film or having to reload. Instead you may find
yourself quickly filling up expensive memory cards. Well, forget about
dragging around a laptop on vacation or to other photography excursions.
Apple just released an inexpensive new solution to transfer your photos
and QuickTime movies directly from your USB digital camera to your iPod
photo, which can hold up to 25,000 photos. It's called the iPod Camera
Connector.
After you transfer the photos to your iPod photo using the connector,
you can view them in a slideshow with music on the brilliant
65,536-color display. (More fun than those delicate memory cards, don't
you think?)
When you get home, you can upload your photos from your iPod photo to
your computer using iPhoto on a Mac, Adobe Photoshop Elements or Adobe
Album on a Windows PC.
Purchase this fabulous gadget for only $29. Learn more.
