I've made some simple tests to compare Apache and
Lighttpd for scgi connections. Results are on the
wiki: http://quixote.ca/qx/LighttpdScgi

I've given as much as possible details to let you
install, compile, configure it your self.
This will allow you to evaluate Lighttpd your self
;-).

Concerning stability, I've never been able to crash
lighttpd.

With low level parameters like
server.max-keep-alive-requests,
server.max-keep-alive-idle, ... you can tune it in a
very efficient way.

Personally, Quixote+lighttpd is a very flexible and
performante combinaison.

Have fun with it.

Vincent
