This site show a request for a change in regulations for basket linked
notes. As the name implies these seem to be a basket of linked securities,
they may seem to be similar to ETFs but they are different.

I found this site by doing a search for basket linked securities. If you
find out anything interesting please post it.

Subject: [quotes-plus] Basket Linked Note? anyone know what they are?

During my search for tickers missing in QP I came across a whole
class of items on Amex that don't seem to be in QP...and indeed,
they, perhaps, should not be. A lot of these have the word 'note' in
their description and in my search I've chanced upon the term 'basket
linked notes'.. they apparently trade like ETFs but are for
institutional investors..or appear to be.

Is anyone familiar with what these are?

Below are just of few of scores of these I found at the Nasdaq.com
site which has ticker lists for the nasdaq, amex and nyse....

MARKET PARTICIPATION NOTES JPL.B
MARKET PARTICIPATION NOTES ON THE S&P 500 INDEX JPL.F
MEDIUM TERM NOTES LINKED TO S&P 500 INDEX GSN.B
MEDIUM TERM NOTES LINKED TO S&P 500 INDEX GSN.C
MEDIUM TERM NOTRS LINKED TO S&P 500 INDEX GSN.D

These apparently trade on the Amex.
