Thanks Dale, at least the difference makes sense to me now. Now I have to
find out which most closely matches with IBD's EPS rating, and adjust
according. This may also answer my own question what there is such a marked
difference between HG 100 and IBD 100.

This was addressed by Gary in message #17616 dated March 8, 2007. 
Quotes plus uses operating earnings, Yahoo uses reported earnings. 

Which do you want to use, review the thread about this(Howard Hansen's 
message #17648), I would think that the operating earnings would be a 
bit more conservative. The choice has to be yours.
