Hi We get the fundamentals from Reuters, we started ou with Market Guide, they were acquired by Reuters, and now Reuters has been acquired by Thompson. So although we haven't change vendors in quite a while, the vendors have indeed changed.
For some of these numbers, you have to know how they are calculated. The high and low pe and beta numbers are 5 year numbers that are calculated monthly. If a company does not have 5 years of history, or it has had a spin off or merger, or it has had a negative quarter, then the clock is reset, and 5 years of data will be required for the calculation of the numbers. It does seem a little harsh, but that's how they calculate it, if a company doesn't have 5 positive years, then you won't see those numbers. For Debt/Equity, Inst. percent and earnings growth, let me know which stocks you are looking at, there is almost always a reason why the numbers aren't there, I need to know the issues, please send any issues to [EMAIL PROTECTED] The revenue numbers are correct. We don't have reported earnings and revenues, instead the numbers are what analysts use to make earnings estimates on, they are operating numbers, and they only reflect a company's main business. For financial companies, the revenue number is interest income, it does not include any other income. For auto companies, only vehicle sales are included, not any financing revenues etc. These number are used to give a better base for calculating an eps rank. Since ETFC, FNM, LEH, MER etc have lost billions and billions of dollars, it's not surprising that these numbers are negative. The company description was changed by Reuters, there is a different field we can use, but it's much longer than the current field, and would require a new release. It doesn't seem like the fundamental data is as clean as it used to be. Did you change data providers? The High PE, Low PE, PEG, Beta, DTE, IPct, and Earnings Growth data seems to be missing from a lot of stocks. Also the descriptions don't seem to be very descriptive. I ran into one the other day that said "revenues decreased because of a decrease in revenues". Also, I think they used to contain at least a little info on the company such as location and general product line. For example, right now, I want to stay away from banks in Cal. and have to go to the internet to find out where they are headquartered. A bunch of extra key/mouse strokes. A specific example, on E Trade (ETFC) the sales for the Dec. 2007 quarter is listed as -2007.95. I think it is (virtually) impossible to have negative sales. These stocks from the S&P 1500 also have negative sales numbers: FNM FRE IFC LEH MBI MER MS VIA B doesn't have any numbers. Anyway, the chart data still seems to be good and on time; and that is the most important thing of course. But I think the fundamental data is a little less useful than it used to be. Thanks, Brian
