I know this doesn't answer your question, but I don't use Internet Explorer 8 very much any more. When I did, I don't recall it interfering with QP.
Most of the time I used Firefox. I think it is MUCH better...and it is a free download. The only thing I use Internet Explorer 8 for is for MSN Money and that is because Microsoft set it up so that it only works with their software. I think Firefox runs more efficiently..it has many many free add ons that do different things that you can add if you want and is updated much much more often.
